After the success of the Introduction to Archives and Recorded Information Management Workshop in October, the Yukon Council of Archives (YCA) is excited to announce that we are hosting Archives & RIM Part 2: Introduction to Photo Collections and Digitization Workshop in Whitehorse on Tuesday, March 5 through Thursday, March 7, 9 AM to 4 PM.

Michelle Barroca will be returning as our Workshop Presenter. She is a very experienced Archives and RIM consultant specializing in Indigenous records organization. Michelle has a long-standing association with YCA, providing workshops and mentoring for First Nations and other organizations, including the First Nations Public Service Secretariat.

This workshop will build on the knowledge gained from our October workshop and apply Archives and RIM principles and practices to photo collections and digitization projects. It is open to all YCA members regardless of whether they attended the previous workshop. If this is your first workshop with us, you will have the option of joining a pre-workshop Intro to Archives and RIM Zoom session with Michelle in February, which will provide an introduction to key foundational concepts.

In this second workshop you will learn new, practical skills to help your organization better manage their important heritage records. The spring workshop will cover:

  • Key considerations for processing photo collections and digitization projects

  • Sharing stories and providing practical examples

  • Tours of Yukon Archives (and others TBD)

There is no cost to participate in the workshop. Participants who need assistance with travel and other costs to attend the workshop may apply to the Heritage Training Fund by January 15. More details are available on the HTF website or call the Yukon Historical & Museums Association at (867) 667-4704.

To register, email Miranda (yukoncnclarch@gmail.com) as soon as possible as space is limited.
